Career test after 12th: choosing a course and a career

The short answer

After Class 12, a career test helps you narrow hundreds of courses and careers to the few that fit what you enjoy, how you work and what you value. Aptitudo's Career Discovery ranks courses and careers against your answers and shows your five closest, each with its reason. It takes about fifty five minutes and costs ₹999, paid only if you open the report.

Short facts

  • Career Discovery: about fifty five minutes, ₹999, or ₹1,499 with Plus, paid after you finish and only if you open the report.
  • The report ranks hundreds of courses and careers, across fields from engineering and medicine to law, commerce, design and the humanities.
  • Plus shows your fifteen closest and plans your next twenty four months.
  • Entrance exams are run by different bodies: the National Testing Agency runs JEE Main, NEET UG and CUET UG, and a consortium of National Law Universities runs CLAT.
  • Nine free tests, each taking about three to twenty minutes.

Course, career and entrance exam are three decisions

A course is what you study, a career is the work you do after it, and an entrance exam decides where you study.

Students often mix the three up. A career test speaks to the first two: which kinds of course and work fit you. It says nothing about the third, which depends on the exam, your preparation and the seats available that year. Each exam body publishes its own rules on subjects and eligibility, so check its information bulletin.

What the report shows

Career Discovery gives you a short list you can act on, with the reasons written out.

  • Your interests, strengths, personality and values in plain words.
  • The career families that fit, with the why.
  • Your five closest courses, with longer ranked lists to browse.
  • A six month action calendar, and what to do next.
  • A PDF to keep.

Plus, at ₹1,499, adds your fifteen closest courses, a plan for the next twenty four months, the full eighteen month calendar, two careers compared side by side, an AI guide you can ask about your own report for thirty days within a chat allowance, and one free retake between six and twenty four months. See a sample report before you start.

Using it with your family

The report is written so that someone else can check it with you.

Every result shows the scores behind it, so a parent can see why a course appears, not just that it does. Money, location and family circumstances shape the advice in the report, but they are never scored and never lower how well a course fits you. Those are things to talk about together.

If you have already chosen a course

Use the report to check the fit, not to start again.

See whether your course, or its career family, appears near the top of your list, and read the reasons given. If it does not, the reasons for the courses that do can tell you what to look into before you commit three or four years.

What any test cannot tell you

No career test can decide your entrance result, a cut off, the fees or which college will admit you. It shows the fit between you as you are now and what a course or career asks, from your own answers. Use it next to your marks, your budget and advice from people who know the field.
